• Be aware that many pagers/beepers are stolen and are sold through retail stores
• Buy only from reputable stores
• Buy only from authorized dealers
• Get the ID number off the pager/beeper
• Call the service provider or manufacturer, give them the ID number and confirm that the pager/beeper is not stolen
