Coughing

Here are some things to consider doing. Some items may not be applicable to you.

Before coughing:

• Cover mouth with left hand, since you use your right hand to shake hands, etc.

After coughing:

• Wash hands as soon as feasible and before touching surfaces used by other people – so you don’t spread germs

If you have a dry, hacking cough:

• Consider using a cough suppressant – avoid combined expectorant/suppressant medications

If you have a deep, wet cough:

• Consider using a cough expectorant – avoid combined expectorant/suppressant medications

If coughing persists:

• See a doctor
