Chain Saws
Before using a chain saw:
Consider hiring a professional • chain saw accidents can be very serious
Review the operator’s manual
Ensure the chain saw has:
- Chain break/reduced kickback chain (look for high pieces of metal between the teeth) • to stop chain in event of a kickback
- Proper chain tension (when you pull the chain away from the saw, it should only pull away slightly and not come off the track)
Wear:
- Safety glasses
- Ear plugs
- Gloves
While using:
- Face your feet towards the item you’re cutting
- Use a wide stance and firm footing
- Bend at the knees vice your waist
Often:
- Lubricate the chain

I would start off with “consider hiring a professional. The average chainsaw accident results in ___ stitches to close the wound.” How about some instructions on how to make a tree land where you want it to (away from the house.)
