Breast Feeding
- Breast-feeding can help protect against diarrhea
Before breast-feeding the first time:
Consider borrowing (e.g., from a foundation which supports breastfeeding), renting or buying a pump:
- Battery-driven are good
- Electric can be expensive
- Hand-driven can be hard to use
While breast-feeding:
If breasts are tight (full) and baby doesn’t need milk:
- Hot shower
- Hot pad
If you use a bottle:
- Use a nipple with a small opening • so baby doesn’t get used to getting milk easily from a bottle and start refusing to breast-feed
