Before picnic:

  • Check weather forecast

    • Umbrella (e.g., beach)

    • Trash
    • Recyclable items
  • Drinks
  • Ice
  • Cooler
  • Cups
  • Plates
  • Napkins
  • Condiments
  • Grill/hibachi
  • Utensils
  • Charcoal
  • Matches
  • Lighter fluid
  • Meat thermometer (e.g., instant read)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Chairs
  • Blanket(s) – to sit on and/or for warmth
  • Camera
  • Music player
  • Toys
  • Frisbee
  • Hackey sack

During picnic:

If a lightning storm is possible:

  • Determine if lightning monitors are installed at the picnic site

Regularly:

  • Check the lightning monitors

After picnic:

  • Have everyone help pick up trash
